Dead, leaning or simply in the wrong place, we take trees down in controlled sections with rigging lines and cranes so nothing falls where it should not.
How we handle tree removal
Most removals in Portland are not open-field felling jobs. They are 90-foot Douglas firs ten feet from a bedroom, bigleaf maples arching over a garage, or a cottonwood leaning into the neighbor's fence. Our climbers work down the tree in measured sections, lowering each piece on friction devices so the load never swings into a structure.
When access allows, we bring in our 38-ton crane and pick whole sections straight over the house. That cuts climbing time, keeps heavy wood off lawns and irrigation lines, and usually saves a day on large jobs. Every removal ends with chipped brush, hauled or bucked wood and a raked, blown-down site.

Sections are lowered on ropes or picked by crane. Ground crew keeps a clear, coned work zone.

Usually, yes. Under Portland's Title 11 tree code, most trees 12 inches or wider in diameter on private property need a permit, and dead, dying or dangerous trees follow a separate process. We tell you which applies and help with the paperwork.
Most single residential removals take four to seven hours. Large firs near structures, or multi-tree jobs, can run one to two days.
We lay composite ground mats under trucks and log landings, and we choose lighter equipment when soil is saturated.
Yes. We can buck the trunk into 16-inch rounds and stack them where you want, or haul everything away.
